Boundary Series – Chapter 2 · The Invisible Load

No one really talks about the invisible weight that women carry.

It is not only the meetings, the deadlines, or the responsibilities people can see.

It is remembering every child’s school project, every birthday, every little detail that keeps life moving.
It is carrying the unspoken worries.
It is anticipating needs before anyone else notices them.

It is managing a household, a team, and a business while still holding space for everyone else’s emotions.

It is being the calm in the room when everyone else needs direction — even when your own heart feels tired.

People would sometimes ask me, “How do you do it all?”

And I would smile.

Because the truth was, I didn’t.

I was not doing it all.
I was just learning how to hide the cracks better than before.

Behind every “I’m okay” were nights filled with overthinking, guilt, and quiet tears.
Behind every strong exterior was a woman trying to keep everything from falling apart — not because she was fearless, but because she believed she had to be.

For a long time, I carried the belief that my worth was measured by how much I could handle, how much I could give, and how much I could endure.

As if the more exhausted I became, the more worthy I was.
As if carrying more somehow proved I was enough.

But over time, I began to see that “doing it all” was never the goal.

The real goal was never endless performance.

It was peace.
It was presence.
It was doing what truly matters without losing myself in the process.

There came a moment when I stopped trying to prove, and started learning how to pause.

I began to understand that rest is not slacking.
Rest is how I refill the well.

That saying no is not rejection.
It is how I honour my time, my energy, and the things that matter most.

That love is not measured by sacrifice alone.
It is reflected in sustainability.

Because if I am constantly empty, then what do I really have left to give?

I no longer want to build a life that looks full from the outside but feels draining on the inside.

I want to live and lead from a place of wholeness.

Not because I have less to carry,
but because I am finally learning that I do not have to carry everything alone.
